I'd like answers from people with experience with digital Cameras and all.

I need a Digital Camera with 1.} at least 6mp,
2.} a well known brand (sony, canon, fuji film, panasonic, etc. --as long as it's a heard of brand) , and 3.} I want it to be compact or ultra compact at 150 dollars or less ( it would be okay if it's a few dollars "1-5" more)

If you have any experience with the camera yourself. Please include details. I'd like the picture quality to be at least decent.

Doesn't matter what battery type or anything.

It's for gifts for two people ( I only have 300 dollars to spend on digital Cameras for them)

Thanks

I think best the camera in your price range is the Canon Powershot A540. You can find it "everywhere" for about $140 now, as it is being closed out. I've recommended this camera within my own family, so I'll be living with the results of this recommendation right along with you. You can use the rest of your budget to buy a decent memory card.

Go here and read an extensive review:

Check the sample images, too.

This will blow your mind. The A530 is now discontinued, but it was the "little brother" to the A540.

My brother has the A540 and my mother-in-law has the A530 - on my recommendation - and neither one has stopped speaking to me yet.

You're not going to find one that cheap....especially if you'd like a NEW & unused one. Most cameras START in the $100 - $150 range. I have a Cannon PowerShot & that cost me $150....a Kodak EasyShare is the same price. Both are decent cameras & "cheap" for a digital.

I own a gateway DCM-50 camera the picture quality is very good but the camera has some technical flaws that makes using it to be a bit frustrating at times. Mine shuts itself off after only 30 seconds after I turn it on and go to take a photo. I have it set to shut off automatically after 30 mins and it drives me nuts sometimes. This feature is for power saving of the batteries. It can be bought at amazon.com for $150. The photo quality as I said is very good, mine just happens to be defective.
