I am getting a new camera, and it is one of those big, high tech ones. So I am wondering, which is better? Cannon or Nikon? Also, which one is easier to use?

Wow, I haven't answered this question in 12 whole hours!
Neither. The one that is right for you is the better camera. Nikon may have amazing Gizmos, but if you can't use nikon because it doesn't fit you right, then the amazing gizmo is no good for you is it?
They are the two leading cameras in the world. Both are awesome and make amazing cameras. The one that is better is the one that does what you want it to do in the way you need it to do the job.
When it comes down to the nuts and bolts? Neither is better than the other. Just choose the one you want.

It really boils down to personal opinion. I personally like both but, currently shoot Canon mainly because I had access to more Canon lenses at the time I got into photography. If I had more access to Nikon lenses, I probably would have stayed with Nikon because that's what I shot as I grew up. At the end of the day you won't go wrong with either brand because their lower end cameras like Nikon D3100 and D5100 are essentially the same as Canon's Rebels (EOS 1100D, 550D and 600D).
When you step up to their mid-range models, like Canon's 60D and 7D versus Nikon's D7000 and D300s, you'll start seeing bigger differences in how their controls are laid out and overall operation of the cameras. These differences continue with their professional models and this is where serious photographers start developing serious preferences for one brand or the other. But at this level, people also tend to have developed a fairly expensive collection of lenses that makes switching brands a very expensive proposition.

anybody of them is a robust decision for a compact factor &shoot digital camera. Canon, Sony, Nikon are the best of the best. some fashions have extra helpful factors than others, possibly you do no longer want all of them, so pick a variety you like that fit your funds, and photographic desires. i might decide for Canon, and Sony on the 1st place, and Nikon for final (Nikon is powerful too yet i admire extra Canon and Sony on the compact digital camera branch). any between the three manufacturers supply you years of satisfation in termns of image high quality, battery life, an good contruction. do only no longer rush, as quickly as you detect the fashions you like the main, verify on the evaluation web content what different clientele say approximately it and how they value it.

Save yourself the money and stick with a nice point and shot... If you don't even know that those cameras are DSLRs, you have no clue how to use one properly. Buying an expensive camera will not give you better photos.

The PowerShot ELPH 310 HS digital cameraís large and bright 3.0-inch PureColor LCD screen makes it easy to view and frame your shots in high resolution (461,000 dots).
PureColor technology delivers excellent contrast with rich, true-to-life color. Moreover, you can view the LCD screen over a surprisingly wide angle ñ above, below or to either side ñ without color shifts and with minimal reflections. A scratch-proof hard coating and a dust-repellent fluorine coating ensure a durable screen that dependably displays clear, vibrant images.

Canon is better, and Canon is easier to use. I recommend the Canon SX130 Powershot camera if you are on a budget, it is very good quality.
