The image sensor and image processor of the T2i and T3i is identical, so images will be the same.

The T3i as mentioned has a swivel screen which makes it a better choice for video, contrary to an earlier post, the T2i does in fact have a minijack socket, but on the T3i the audio levels can be controlled manually, another pointer to it being the better camera for video.

However, if you are serious about video then the fact that the T2i can be installed with magic lantern firmware, opening up all sort of useful video features, may make it a better choice for some.

I have the T2i and the 7D. If I was buying for video today I would buy the T3i, that said the T2i still gives me excellent video quality.

The T3i is basically a T2i with a swivel screen, wireless flash support and an external mic jack. In terms of image quality in both photo and video it should be exactly identical to the T2i, but the mic jack is a huge advantage. Here is a video showing a T2i autofocusing during video (using contrast based AF as in live view mode). You notice that it's quite a noisy thing. An external mic fixes that problem.

in case you're attempting to compliment between the two.. i could pass with the t3i. i myself had an somewhat no longer difficulty-free time finding out on between the two and that i'm happy i went with the t3i. the twisting demonstrate is only staggering! I puzzled if i could ever use it, and that i do.. continuously! As for high quality for video.. that is an identical.. same for photographs too! however the cost distinction is only approximately one hundred/50 looking on the place you get yours from.. So why no longer improve!?

I purchased Canon EOS Rebel T3i camera mainly for recording video. Its quality is amazing, and the on-board mic records great to me as well. For anyone wondering about the new HD digital movie zoom, I created a video demonstrating its quality and the microphone quality as well! Its on youtube. Just search for t3i digital zoom and onboard mic test. Check it out and let me know what you think in the comments!

Actually when it comes to HD video there is no better except to the extent that the larger sensor of a dslr gives you perhaps better technical quality that a tiny sensor of a point and shoot - that's it.

So the better doesn't even come into this comparison.

As noted, the one major difference is the articulated screen allowing for many different shooting angles while you remain standing.

HD is HD so in this line of cameras there is no better.
