I am looking to buy a polaroid camera that will take vintage looking pics. I was looking to buy a Polaroid Spectra AF but I'm not too sure because it can only use ONE type of film and it's quite pricey. (about $20-$35 for 10 exp.) It also seems that after a while it will be harder to find film for it. Can anyone suggest a good polaroid camera that can take good vintage looking pics with cheaper and available film? Thank you :)

Your best bet would be an sx70. There slr's so your focusing is great. They take sx-70 film which is really vintage. If you can get your hands on some Time Zero or Tz artistic i think you will get your desired results :)

Spectra is very sharp. Ive never seen a vintage looking spectra picture. Spectra film also doesnt last as long as the other already expired films.

I put a link for the Tz artistic in the source box :) hope i could help!

Now that i think of it; check out the px70 film they sell; its brand new and the pictures ive taken with it are very vintage looking. The site i sends you Guarantees working film btw so no risk like ebay :)

Hi Jenine!

The people at The Impossible Project (http://www.the-impossible-project.com/) are now making Spectra films too, so you might want to check that out.

I'd probably recommend a pack film camera or one that takes 600 or SX-70 film - the people over at The Collector Detector (http://TheCollectorDetector.net) are awesome to deal with, and they guarantee their cameras to work. Also if you buy from their site you can use the coupon code COLLECTOR to get 10% off.

If you go the SX-70 route, the Impossible Project and some other people on the auction site are selling new films or old stock of Artistic Z, which is the kind you can manipulate artistically. Here is a link to some manipulation resources: http://www.google.com/search?q=sx-70+manipulation&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a -- it's a LOT of fun!

Also, this is a great site for info on the different models and features: http://www.rwhirled.com/landlist/landdcam.htm

Hope this helps!

As far as Polaroid instant cameras are concerned, you have lots to choose from. Film? The current supply is dwindling fast. Polaroid stopped making them , instant cameras and film, a few years back. Get a digital camera and learn a few tricks with a computer graphics editing program.

Funny to see SX70 film described as 'vintage'. I was in photo retail when it was introduced in 1972. I agree that any form of Polaroid film will be ever harder to buy. As elsewhere suggested, get digital, then manipulate in software.

I’m afraid all Polaroid film is expensive

Because not many people use it anymore

It would be cheaper to buy an image-editing program such as

Adobe Photoshop and you will be able to get fantastic results

If you want vintage looking pictures, just buy any point and shoot camera and some photo editing software. It will be much cheaper in the long run.
