Memory card parameter error?

Hi,

I've just bought a new 4GB SD card for my Panasonic DMC-TZ3 camera.

It worked fine with a 128MB SD card just didn't let me take many photos. I was recommended to get a 4GB card but when I put it in it either flashes up with 'Memory Card Error' or 'Memory Card Parameter Error'

Can anyone tell me if this is the card at fault or my camera? And any advice would be appreciated - am a bit of a techno phobe and am jinxed with anything gadgety!

Did you check the manual to see what the maximum card size was? If this camera is old enough that you used to used 128MB, it's unlikely it was ever programmed to work with 4GB cards. It probably only goes up to 1GB max.

With some cameras, it is possible to upgrade the software on the camera (known as firmware), which might then make it take 4GB cards. Start looking on Panasonic's website, and camera forums.

There isn'tn't a 4Gb SD card.

What you have is an SDHC (HC being high capacity).

It looks the same, but uses a different format and it looks like iots not compatible.

You will need to send it back and buy an SD card which will only go up to 1 or 2GB

I have to FORMAT my cards to work with my camera...does your camera have the format setting in it? Mine didn't recognize the capacity of the card.
