Question:
Best quality non-professional camera?
???????

I'm looking to buy a camera that takes excellent quality photos but is classified as "non-professional" without a detachable lens. I'm going to Warped Tour in a few weeks and only smaller, non-dslr, non-detachable lens, non-professional cameras are allowed into the venue without a press pass. I'd really like some suggestions as to which models are best for concert photography! I'm used to working in RAW format so any that can produce this would be preferred. Thanks so much!

The Sony Cybershot RX100 should be a very capable camera

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/869238-REG/Sony_DSC_RX100_Digital_Camera.html

Has a large 1" sensor and bright fast f/2 lens

Has RAW option too. The trick here would be using the highest usable ISO and not zooming in too much, cause then aperture narrows down. Instead shoot at the highest possible resolution & then crop the image on your PC to zoom in

Are there better systems, sure yes

http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?atclk=Sensor+Size_APS-C&ci=8612&N=4288586279+4050180534

All of the above systems have APS-C sensors, much larger than the RX100 above, but then aperture is narrower and most are fixed focal lengths - prime lenses. Besides, they carry fancy price tags too. But then thats the price you pay for having such a large sensor in a compact body, among others

Not to worry, the RX100 should be a pretty reasonable performer

Back when I was teaching commercial photography, I would tell my students: The camera a photographer does not make. I can take a picture with a hole in a cigar box (and did, several times). Photography is still an art and it does take a certain amount of talent and a heck of a lot of practice. One advantage with digital is you get to see your own crap before anyone else can. Stay with a consumer class camera until you think you are getting good enough to go up to a pro-sumer SLR class. Then don't be afraid to look at options, such as Konika, Pentax, Olympus and others. In the long run they will give you more bang for the buck than the over priced Cannon and Nikon brands.

I would suggest Canon PowerShot SX50 HS, it's a best bridge camera that has 50x Wide-Angle Optical Image Stabilized Zoom and can Shoots RAW format.

The advantages of the Canon PowerShot SX50 HS over Sony DSC-HX200V :

Gore zoom 50x vs 30x

Supports 24p Yes vs No

Records high-speed movies 240 fps vs None

Shoots RAW Yes vs No

Shoots faster 13 fps vs 10 fps

I think you'll have problems with the megazoom bridge cameras too.

Just look at what people do with the Canon SX50 (search on flikr.com)

Try the large sensor-equipped Canon G1X (hopefully they'll just think it's a G15)

Here's just one example of how it can work in concerts in the hands of a good photographer:

Otherwise any of the compacts with fast lenses. Canon S100, Olympus XZ1 or 2 etc.

if they just detect the type of cameras by their appearance, I recommend you buying this camera:

Canon PowerShot G15

Nikon P7700

(Both can do RAW photography and both are semi-professional and good overall quality)

if they know what is bridge camera or super zoom camera buy this:

Canon Powershot SX 50HS

RAW

50x zoom
