Canon makes the best digital cameras. They jumped into digital camera technology with both feet before it started to boom -- now all the other companies are scrambling to catch up. They're the best in terms of ease of use and value for your dollar. Yahoo Shopping is a great place to comparison shop for digital cameras.

there is no best digital camera.

The first thing you need to realize is that everyone has different tastes in what they like or don't like. I like very sharp images so I don't like Kodaks... I like lots of saturation in my pictures so I don't like Sonys... every camera incorporate someones view of what a good picture should be. You really need to look at the result of cameras to determine what YOU like. Then go find that camera in a store and hold it... see if it feels right... if it does then you just found the best camera for you; just realize that it wont be the best for others only for you.

is the best site I know of for comparing pictures from different cameras. The site goes to great lengths to make sure each image is the same subject from camera to camera so you can compare. When you narrow it down to two images you think you like copy those to a disk and take them to the place you will be going to to print your own pictures... have them print them and look at the images now, because what they look like on the monitor isn't always what you will get when printed.

I'd suggest the Canon SD1000.

It's pretty sleek and stylish, but it has exeptional picture quality for a camera of it's size.

Here's some more info on it:

Slim, stylish 7.1 Megapixel Digital ELPH with 3x Optical Zoom lens

Chic modern minimalism in the ELPH's classic Box & Circle design in two color variations to suit your personal style

DIGIC III Image Processor with improved Face Detection Technology and Red-eye Correction for sharper images and improved functionality

Vivid, high-resolution 2.5-inch PureColor LCD with scratch-resistant anti-reflection coating for easy on-camera viewing

ISO 1600 and High ISO Auto to reduce image blur and expand low-light shooting capability

Five movie modes including 30 fps VGA, Time Lapse and Fast Frame Rate

For more info or if you wanna see some sample images go to Canon's website.

CANON all of the way.... I have Nikon and Canon and have used other brands who belong to friends... and there are none that compare to Canon.

I have a Canon SD750... it's small and sleek and you'll love it.
