Theres a camera in argos that my daughter wants, it requires a li-ion battery and i'm not really sure what one is. I've checked online and they are expensive and i cant afford to keep going and getting a new one. How long do li-ions last? and the pack that argos is selling for half price includes one for the camera, does this come with a charger for it? What ARE li-ion batteries?

I'm pretty sure the camera your buying comes supplied with the USB, charger, AND the battery. So you shouldn't worry about those. However, it's highly recommended you buy a memory card; maybe one around the 2-8gb range. flash memory prices has gone way down, so it's quite likely you can get a 4GB for under $40. For the battery, check the manufacture's website and search for the battery model. Li-ion, also known as lithium-ion, unlike conventional batteries, are rechargeable. Prices for Li-ion vary greatly from manufacture to manufacture. Generally, they last pretty long. Good ones will take at least a year until you find a decrease in performance. Consider replacing them after the 3rd year.

You don't say what size of battery you need but...

My digital camera uses AAA size batteries. After seeing just how little use I got from a set of Duracell, I invested in a compact charger, and a set of NI-MH rechargeable batteries. Lithium-Ion batteries are claimed to last up to seven times longer than alkaline in 'hi-drain' devices (such as digital-cameras)

If you'd like to email me with more details about the camera - I'll have a dig around the internet - see if I can come up with some cheaper alternatives.

Here's a couple of other sources for Lithium-Ion batteries if you want to try them...

Its just what is inside of the battery. There are ni-cd and others like that. Go to radioshack.com put in the make and model of your camera under the battery finder and it will tell you the battery that you need and if you can order it thru them. If you want you can go to a radioshack (with your camera) and they will do this all, order it, and have it shipped to the store for free. They might even be able to find one with a charger.

I always recommend finding out how much you are spending on batteries and see if buying a new camera that takes AA batteries will be cheaper in the long run. You can get a decent camera for 150-200 dollars that won't make you buy specialty batteries all the time. Check out RadioShack

Li-ion batteries are lithium-ion. They last different amounts of time depending on voltage, current, and how much you use them.

It must be free with camera and can be charged so don't worry.
