Is it true, that when you shoot with a Lumix FZ-30 in 5MP that you get lower noise?

yes it is true,If you don't plan to print poster size, 3-5 Mp is all that you need, specialy if you don't plan to do any cropping or noise reduction in post processing. Less Mps will give you pictures with less noise and more dynamic range.
