I'm looking for a new digital camera and don't really know much about camera's themselves. I want a nice smaller sized digital camera with many different features or modes. Price range up to $300 preferably. I just want to know what determines good picture quality and requirements for good photography.

The all time winner bargain compact digital camera is the Canon 7.1 megapixel PowerShot SD1000 [not the SD1100 [IS] 7.1 with an added 2- gig memory card which when set in the manual mode for "Vivid" colors and videos at 30 fps in 320 dpi format provides killer images and videos under low light conditions. It's especially good for low-light concerts. The macro feature is superb for taking closeups of small butterflies, insects, etc. It currently sells for $140 at techgearnow.com:

Good luck!

Compact cameras are designed to be small and portable; the smallest are described as subcompacts or "ultra-compacts". Compact cameras are usually designed to be easy to use, sacrificing advanced features and picture quality for compactness and simplicity; images can usually only be stored using Lossy compression (JPEG). Most have a built-in flash usually of low power, sufficient for nearby subjects.

I have the best & cheapest digital-camera that is of 2.1 MP high quality color image >>>>> http://www.agritura.com/product_info.php/info/p2002_Trail-Scout-Pro-2-1-MP-Digital-Camera.html
