As you are planning for trip. I think you should go for Nikon L15 or Canon Powershot TX-1. But among these two also, I would prefer you to go for Canon Powershot TX-1 because it has the fantastic devices for taking majestic pictures with having a lens resolution. Its zoom feature is also excellent. I myself seen the excellent snaps of this digital camera. try something like the the dmc-tz5 lumix (Panasonic) they actually take good pictures consitering their size.



things to remember:



once you get over 7mega pixels.. it doesnt really make a difference for general consmers (especially if you are just an amature)



the more important thing is the optical zoom, 3x sucks, 5x does too but is a bit better. also you always need to test cameras if you can before you buy them.. most pocket cameras never take pictures like you want them (too blurry and has slow shutter speed



also most of the features on those types of cameras you will never use. lumix cameras have always taken good pictures for their price but check places like Cnet.com for camera reviews..



any camera under 250 wont be great but probably wont be noticable enough to an average person to really make them care.



the best cameras cost more but are usually too much for most people, also remember: most of the time brands like nikon make good expensive cameras.. but their cheap ones suck..



and lately .. dont buy a kodak.

My brother just got the Cybershot from Sony...you can't go wrong with Sony. It's an attractive looking camera, has a really big display, has a lot of options, and takes amazing pictures! Something like 8.2 mega pix and comes with a 2 gig sd card and a nice case. I thinks it's just under 200 bucks.
