I have the camera listed above and for Christmas I want a bigger memory card for the one I have now doesn't allow me to record videos.

Currently, I have a Panasonic 4GB memory card.

Which size would be good to record random videos (ie videos for Youtube, videos from some trips I take, etc)?

You're asking several questions here so let me answer what I can. Class: The higher the number the faster the card will store data. That makes higher class cards ideal for HD video because there's no much data flowing that if the card is slow (or small as you've noted) recording will be impeded. Yes I agree cash can be an issue - been there done that. But you'll find a 16gb card will probably your best bet. However, if I'm telling you what you already know forgive me, be sure to treat that card exactly as it should be. That means, after a shoot, no matter how small, upload and backup. Then put the card back in the camera and format. So many people leave their cards with lots of photos on them - wrong. So many people like to display photos with their camera - again wrong. These things love to fail and if you want to buy card after card this is the way to do it. I also recommend that you have at least 3-cards in your bag. If one fails, wala - you're prepared. You should be able to buy an AC adapter for your Canon. But, I think you'll end up going through one of the specialty sites for it. Retailers seldom carry such specialized items because they can't move them. Good Luck.

I suggest the maximum capacity to be 16gb for video, 8gb if you are only doing stills

you need to have class 10 memory cards to shoot without interruption. After you finish recording, you upload the data to your computer where it will be safe. Then, you put the card back in your camera and format.

Look for Sandisk and Trascend cards, Class 10 or Class 6 if you are really really on a budget. 4 or 8GB would be the best.

A 4GB memory card will give you approximately 12 min of video at the highest quality setting.

A 16GB memory card will give you approximately 49 min of video at the highest quality setting.

A 32GB memory card will give you approximately 98 min of video at the highest quality setting.

So find the highest GB and you should be fine...remember any pictures you may take, will shorten video length available....The package should tell you if it's capable with the camera....or go to a actual camera store, they will help with this.

Have fun, that camera is a joy to play with!
