I'm flying to Japan tomorrow and spending a week. I have been looking into buying a new Fujifilm camera and I was going to buy it before this trip, but a thought arose. Would it be cheaper to buy the camera in Japan instead of before I leave? I mean, Fujifilm is headquartered in Japan and Japan is the place for electronics. Does anybody have experience buying electronics in Japan?

I can answer that, in most cases no, it won't be cheaper. In some cases it can be higher. You don't say which camera you're interested in. Many cameras now are made in China, Thailand, and other third world countries where labor is cheap. Even many Nikon's are no longer made in Japan. My Nikon Coolpix P-90 is made in Indonesia ! If you buy anything in Japan, there's going to be a warranty problem should anything happen. There's also the problem of the owner's manual and paperwork being in Japanese.

It's only a myth that electronics are cheaper in Japan. Most electronics are now made outside of Japan, & need to be imported. It costs more to run a business in Japan, so prices are likely to be higher.

i assume what you do no longer comprehend or no one has talked approximately to you is that the Fujifilm on the spot action picture is roofed by skill of a patent and no different action picture maker has the wonderful to make it. there's no ending touch and because that's that this way of small ingredient of the industry, it is not seen a monopoly The action picture for the Instax cameras nonetheless costs decrease than a similar alternative for Polaroid, PX action picture made by skill of impossible undertaking. in case you check out the fees for the two type on the spot action picture, you will see that Fujifilm Instax costs much less.

One thing to keep in mind is the exchange rate. It will depend on the strength of the dollar against the yen. All you really can do is compare as already suggested and then check the exchange rate.

If the dollar is stronger tomorrow it could cost you less dollars there.
