It's an Olympus FE-220 digital camera. The USB cable looks plugged in to my camera and my computer, and it fits in fine. It's a new camera, I got it in April, and it had worked untill I accidentaly tried to use my brother's camera's USB cable which looked exactly the same and fit in my camera without using a large amount of force. I'm worried that it (my brother's USB) moved something around inside the camera, allowing the computer not to recognize it. Help please?

did the other USB cable have the connection where you can see 6 copper colour connections inside, as differnt camera's have different connections

As i have the Olympus E500 DSLR and the cable connections are the same as the FE220

Try

1) Connect Olympus to your PC (with usb cable)

2) Switch on PC... when in windows wait 2 mins..then

3) switch on Olympus camera wait to see if anything happens.

4) if it asks for a driver than install driver from CD

5) if nothing happens go to My computer and see if you can see the disk drive icon of the olympus drive

6) still nothing....Start >> control panel>> add new hardware, to see if it can detect your connected olympus.

still nothing

move the dials on the olympus around, as some DC require dial to be in PC mode or play mode....

check the connections on the camera for any damage...

try a different PC to see if your olympus works...

if not you could

(a) could be a faulty cable, try it with a replacement

(b) could be a loose connection on the usb connecter on the olympus, get it seen to, if its still in warrenty. if not get some estmates

or just

(c) buy a externel card reader, so that you just take the card out of the Olympus after taking your pics

Hope this helps

Does the camera have a message that it's plugged in? Is the USB port you're using working (try another port). The USB cables for your cameras are universal, that shouldn't be a problem. Is your software current? Drivers? Go to Olympus's website and check the FAQ. If that doesn't work, try tech support.

The problem may be with drive conflict being used by both caneras. The drive letter such as D, E, F, etc. Your hard drive has letter C. Click on my computer.

I would uninstall the olympus software and re-install. If it does not work, ask PC savvy people.

The other way to solve this problem is buy a multi card reader which could be used by you and your brother.
