The only things that put me off is the Tokina wide-angle converter (nearly valueless), and the tacky aluminum case with key that screams out "EXPENSIVE" to thieves at work. But then again, the price your getting it at is hard to beat, and if you trust the source, I say go for it.

In my opinion you'd be better off buying a brand new Nikon D60 which is the replacement for the D40x.

I found the D60 "Black Gold" Special Edition w/18-55mm VR lens for $546.95 and the D60 w/18-55mm VR lens for $529.95 at Adorama http://www.adorama.com

Adorama has a 6 month rating of 9.24 and a life-time rating of 8.45 at Reseller Ratings http://www.resellerratings.com

So for $105.00 more you can buy a newer model camera brand-new in the box with the newer 18-55mm VR (Vibration Reduction) lens and a full 1 year U.S.A. warranty from a reputable on-line seller. For $122.00 more you can have a Special Edition model.

My vote is for a new in the box D60.

NOTE: Its likely that the UV, Polarizer and F-DL filters are no-name ones of dubious quality. The F-DL filter is especially useless since its for shooting film under fluorescent light and the camera's White Balance takes care of that in digital photography. The Tokina .45x "wide-angle macro lens" is not a lens - its a cheap screw-in attachment and not something you'd want to use. I have similar doubts as to the quality of the aluminum case and mini-tripod.

When buying filters always buy quality - Hoya, Heliopan, B+W, Tiffen. All you really need is a UV/Haze filter and a Polarizer. Buy the "thin" or "slim" mount ones to prevent any possible vignetting (dark corners on your pictures) at 18mm.

Before getting your mind set on buying in Japan, consider this. With dSLRs, warranty is more often limited to the store you bought it from. You are lucky if the warranty you get is country-wide. If you get your camera from Japan and something goes wrong when you get home, are you willing to spend for shipping your camera back and forth to Japan? If not, you'll be spending more for service at home if ever they decide to accept your camera. If you were however after one of those multi-colored Pentax K-x's, I envy you. I'd be willing to spend more on repairs if needed as long as I get a pink dSLR.

DON"T BUY USED UNLESS IT'S 25% the lowest price you can find on Live.com's cashback.

Those extra accessories are usually cheap. You can buy them on ebay.

Get some moneyback on all your purchases. Charge it to an American Express Blue Cash and get 1 year extended warranty FREE and also some cash back depending on your annual purchases.

Good Luck!

Yes, but is it a source that you can trust? If something breaks, how will it be fixed? Warranty?
