When I was working for a camera store, we sold APS film for double the cost of regular 35mm film. You can develop any roll of film even if not all of the frames are used. Depending on the photolab, they may charge per print or per roll.

We charged 4 bucks more per roll of APS than 35mm (7.99 vs 11.99) but once again, that depends on your photolab.

The problem with APS was that it seemed like a good idea in theory, when developed. But it ended up coming about at a time where Digital was starting to become very popular, and the processing method was much more involved- so it was more expensive.

Also, the photo quality is much lower than that of digital and 35mm. When I quit working at the camera shop in 2006, APS was certainly on its way out with the film plants cutting back production of APS a good deal. I actually haven't seen it around in drug stores/Walmart and such lately.

You can get a film developed even if some of the frames aren't exposed, however, you still pay for developing the entire film. Prices for developing vary. I've been sending my 35mm films to York for processing. Go to york.com and you should probably find answers to your questions there.

I think its time you go Digital. The APS format was short lived, and film processing is very expensive. On average twice the cost of 35mm and about 10 times the price of digital prints.
