I am brand new to the camera community. I recently bought a D5300 but the LiveView Switch is missing. Is there any other way to activate that without that particular switch. In other words, how do I work the camera to where I can see what I’m about to record or shoot a photo?

You need that missing lever.

Professional camera repair typically costs between $100 and $200 per hour

with a 15 to 30 minute minimum charge.

Parts are extra, and they are not cheap.

There are manuals for this but if you completely believe that only nerds read manuals, look at your camera. There's a lever labeled LV.

Psst - that glass thing just above the screen is a tiny peephole that runs right through the lens. Try that.
