I want to buy a new camera. I would like to take good pictures, but my major focus is good audio and long distance zoom that doesn't get all pixalized. I would buy a video camera, but then I wouldn't have picture capabilities and I don't want something too clunky. So basically, my question is what is the best camera to get for no more than $300 that has great zoom and audio quality, but doesn't skimp too much on actual photo quality.

I know that cybershot cameras have good audio, but I've never heard anything about their zoom.

Specific cameras would be good, but i'll settle for brands.

Expert and user opinions both welcome. =]

I'd be using the video for home productions and A LOT of concerts so keep that in mind.

thanks!

Canon Powershot S5. 8 MP, 12x zoom, Ultra Low Disperson Lens, has a dedicated video mode button so you can quickly go from snapshots to shooting video and records audio in stereo.

The Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ5 Digital Camera has great Zoom, one of the best 3 " LCD screen for its size, it that takes really crisp pictures and it can do 720p HD video at 30FPS. It is pretty awesome for a compact camera and IMO one of the best cameras out in its price range. Search around the net for some reviews. I have not heard anything good or bad about the audio.

you should just get a full HD video camera that has a 8 mega pixel camera in it, because no digital camera will give you get audio.
