I really need a new digital camera. I was wondering what type would be best to get really artistic shots and one that has really fast and manual shutter speeds. I would love one to where you can take multiple shots really fast. I heard that Olympus is good and I have always like Nikon and Cannon. Thanks!

Hi Katelyn,

Olympus has a line of cameras similar to the Sony Nex models that may also be a good fit for you. The Sony Nex & Olympus Pen Digital are a new genre of cameras sometimes called E.V.I.L. (Electronic Viewfinder Interchangeable Lens). Panasonic also has models for this genre with lenses that are compatible with the Olympus. Most of hese models eliminate the optical viewing system of traditional SLR/DSLR designs allowing the camera and lenses to be more compact and lighter weight than DSLR's.

One reason you might prefer Olympus is because they have introduced a number of in camera "Art Filters" that allow users to create a number of special effects. You can look at descriptions of all of the Olympus and Panasonic models at this link, you can select any model you are interested and get a more detailed description from that page ~

One advantage of the Sony is that some models will be able to shoot at a higher frame rate (frames per second) than most of their competition but I am not sure how important that would be considering that Olympus & Panasonic have respectable frame rates, too. You can review the Sony models here but it does not seem to have as much detail about the cameras as the Olympus, Panasonic site above ~

I might endorse you learning cameras utterly earlier than buying one. When I aid a buyer acquire a digital camera at paintings, I ask a sequence of questions and likewise, attempt to instruct the buyer while I suppose they do not know so much approximately designated points. What will you be making use of your digital camera for? Will you be making plenty of enlargements or simply your elementary 4x6 prints? (Helps determing the megapixel variety. I endorse now not going underneath a 5mp) Do you recognize the change among a virtual zoom and an optical zoom? The optical zoom is a telescopic lens that works just like a telescope or a normal 35 mm lens. It will take the whole image you're watching at and make it seem nearer. It, additionally, keeps readability. A virtual zoom takes the image you're watching at and starts to crop quantities out to make it seem larger. So now not most effective do you lose a part of your image, however you lose readability as good. (Digital zoom is quite often the intent of "blurry" graphics.) I tremendously endorse getting an optical zoom. It is valued at the few bucks extra you're going to have got to pay. (If you're considering you will not use the zoom that so much, you may also desire to rethink. Once you may have that function, you're going to use it quite often. More than you ever idea.) Another factor to do not forget is that every one virtual cameras have virtual zoom adding the ones with optical zoom. You can multiply your zooms in combination to get your complete zoom capacity. (ex. 3x optical and 5x virtual offers your digital camera a complete 15x zoom) However, the virtual zoom will nonetheless intent a loss in readability even if mixed with the optical zoom. (I endorse turning the virtual zoom off to your menus display.) Batteries are one more function to recall. Cameras include 2 choices a chargeable battery or AA batteries. Where will you be making use of your digital camera? Will or not it's functional to make use of a charger in your battery? Will you be in a far off field in which it's going to be less complicated simply to exchange out batteries quite often? Digital cameras drain batteries speedily. Also seem on the specific lens. How massive is it? Is it recessed within the digital camera? If this is a awesome small lens, or it's recessed into the digital camera a few, gentle may not be competent to arrive it because it must. This way your photographs can be darkish and doubtful now and then. Another function furnished is snapshot stabilization or anti-shake. Do you may have a constant hand? Will your snapshot be relocating as you are taking photographs? This is not a critical function, however it's quality. Do you want a extra slender compact layout or might you instead have whatever slightly bulkier? This will slim down manufacturers and frame patterns. There rather is such a lot to be trained and instruct. I desire this has given you somethings to feel approximately and ask questions approximately. Feel unfastened to electronic mail me you probably have any questions.

If you need a compact camera with full manual controls, I would recommend checking reviews of

Canon Powershot s95

Panasonic Lumix LX5

Canon Powershot G12

Nikon Coolpix P7000

Depending on your budget and need you might want to go for a micro four third camera (i.e. cameras with a large DSLR like sensor, in a compact body with interchangeable lens), you might want to look at Panasonic Lumix GF1 and GF2, Olympus PEN EPL1 and Sony NEX-5.

As you said you need to take multiple shots really fast, Sony NEX-5 is the fastest of the grid, in fact faster than many DSLRs, you can shoot up to 7 frames/second. If you are on a lower budget Sony NEX-3 also has 7fps and about a 100$ cheaper.
