You can find a tutorial on how to make a sepia effect over at http://www.photoshopsupport.com/
there are a number of ways to achieve the sepia look. the tutorial link posted offers a couple of ways. princess offers another; the thing is that merely applying a sepia photo filter without first desaturating your image (making it black and white) will still leave color in. so, if you don't want that, desaturate it first. yet another way to give it that look is to bring up your hue/saturation window (either on its own or as a layer), check "colorize" and adjust your hue to find the closest sepia tone.

I am a web designer and I use photoshop everyday. It's a great tool to edit photos: you can edit images, resize and retouch pictures, make collages, apply cool effects, ecc. It's a professional tool but you can still use it if you are a newbie to make basic graphic things like resizing and cropping images, change colors. etc.
You can download a free version of photoshop here: http://bit.ly/1p341ML
It's amazing.

Make sure your "Layers" window is open... if not, go to the "Window" menu and select "Layers."
At the bottom of the "Layers" window, you'll see something that looks kind of like a yin yang symbol... click on that and select "photo filter"... under filter, choose "sepia" and set the density to 100%.
