I am considering purchasing the Samsung 7.2MP Digital Camera D760 because i found it for $90 somewhere, it looks pretty good..
i just want to be sure this one isn't as crappy as my last camera.. the problem with my last camera was that the batteries always died out way too fast, regardless of what kind they were..and it always took so long to take pictures.. i want something that takes pictures quick :)

Thanks in advance :)

This would be decent camera, especially for the money. Bear in mind that point and shoot cameras take the picture very quickly, but write to the memory card slowly. In sports mode many cameras are capable of taking a picture in 1/1000th of a second, but may take 10 seconds to write the image to your memory card. This is a common issue with point and shoot cameras. DSLR's have a memory buffer where images can be stored before/during writing to the memory card. This is why they are able to take pictures in such quick order.

This particular camera can take images in as fast as 1/2000th of a second. It has no burst mode. Burst mode is a way for point and shoot cameras to take a series of pictures, about 5, in a similar way that DSLR's do.

If you have any other particular models in mind, look for some reviews that may reveal the write times for taking pictures. You can start at dpreview.com. They have excellent reviews for a large number of cameras.
