Question:
DCIM camera card issue.?

I was going to move some photos from my camera to my laptop today from my SD card. the only issue is, it's not working. It's worked just fine every time I've used it before.

The card I have is a SanDisk 32 GB SDHC Card. Now, if this were my 4GB Sony card messing up, I wouldn't have an huge problem with it, but I don't have the money to drop on a new big card right now. When I insert the card into my computer, and click 'Open folder to view files', the SD card opens like normal. Inside are the DCIM folder and a NIKON001.DSC file. When I click on the DCIM folder, I'm greeted with the following error message:

'Windows cannot find 'H:\AdobeReader\DSCI3202.jpg'. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again'.

On top of this, the DCIM folder appears as a shortcut. Which I'm pretty sure isn't supposed to happen.

I'm fine with losing all the pictures on the card if there's a way to reset it and get it working again. I've already moved all the previous photos over anyways.

I don't know what the problem is. I tried importing the files through the Windows Live Gallery, and it insists there aren't any photos on the card. I tried putting in my 4GB Sony card, and it works just fine.

I've tried toggling the Lock switch both ways to see if it was an issue there but the result is the same consistent issue. I'm not familiar with SD card issues, so any help that gets it back in working order would be very helpful. Thanks.

Please try to reformat it.

Right click Properties

Click Format

With that, you will lose all your pictures. But your SD card will work again like a charm. :)

ry this, Download the program http://www.recuva.com?

You must not take anymore pictures on your card.

You will need a card reader either on your computer or an external USB card reader? Put the card in the card reader, open the recuva program, the welcome to the recuva wizard will open, click on next. next box, choose 'pictures', click on next, next box choose 'on my media card' click next. Check 'enable deep scan' click on start. Wait, for it to do it's magic.

You need to use a card reader either one already in your computer (some have one, some don't). Or buy an external USB card reader. They are around 10.00 and can be found at walmart, bestbuy, frys, probably target.

The problem with built in card readers is that they will usually only read up to a 2G card.

I was not able to recover photos by hooking the camera up to the pc with the usb cord, it just won't work.

This is the important part. Choose the pics you want to recover, then choose recover, a box comes up asking where you want to save to. Choose documents/my pictures or wherever you want to save your pictures too. The pictures ONLY save to your pc and not the card.

Then format your card in the camera, this should be done with every major download to avoid corruption.

It sounds like between the pcs you plugged the memory card into ought to have had inaccurate or malicious software on it, and ought to have wiped out the techniques on the memory. the merely thanks to be confident should be to take the memory chip to a qualified computing device technician and word in the experience that they can study or get better the techniques on the chip. If all else fails, it should be mandatory to re-format the chip so it should be reused. regrettably this can erase all information, and thanks to this that's a very last motel. good success!
