i am thinking about buying a nikon d700. i have filled up my amazon cart but i need a second battery to make sure i wont run out of juice out in the field. i was looking at some amazon listmanias and i saw the Nikon EN-EL4A Battery, and then i saw somebattery chamber covers, and chargers and adapters and stuff and i dont have a clue. what do i need to fit a Nikon EN-EL4A Battery in a nikon d700 without having the extra battery grip?
btw i like this battery because of the quick charging times and capacity.

Not necessary - just get a spare EN-EL3e so you can pop it in while the other is charging.

You will need an MB-D10 battery grip from Nikon to use that battery.

Alternatively, just get a couple of EN-EL3e batteries. Unless you're a very heavy shooter or use the built-in flash a lot, 2 EN-EL3e should be enough to last you a whole day (morning - night).

D700 does not have the speed advantage when using EN-EL4a like the D300(s), so personally I do not see much point in using that battery unless you already have one (or you really wanted one). Not to mention you'll need a charger for it, which isn't exactly cost effective for the performance gain.

Of course, it's just my personal opinion as a hobbyist photographer.

You will need the grip in order to use that battery.
