Bushnell 78-9003. Anyone know what it sold for when new?

I'm brand new to searching the heavens, and have no idea as to what scope to buy. However, I can buy a Bushnell "Deep Space" 525 3x mod. 78-9300 at what appears to be a "good" price.
Would you consider this to be a reasonably-good scope for a beginner? Any other suggestions?

It needs to be re calibrated by a professional, amateur astronomer. If you try, you'll mess it up. It should have been calibrated from the place you bought it.
