I have a canon 550d with magic lantern installed on a 16gb sd card. When i keep the camera on for a long time it will count down the stop left corner how long I have got left, when its compelted it says "movie recording has automatically stopped" and then when it goes back to normal screen it says i have more space left to do recording and then this happens again.
Is their a setting to change the from turning itself off ?
Thanks

Do you format your card regularly? Is your SD card a Class 10 card? If "no" is your answer to either or both of those questions, that could be the problem.

1) cameras with CMOS sensors automatically shut down as the temperature of the sensor gets too high (one major problem with CMOS sensors)(when you are shooting the sun, bright stuff....etc)

2) the SD card isnt class 10, the camera isnt fast enough to save the movie to the SD card. buy a better SD card.

The problem with recording video on your Canon 550D is that the sensor overheats, there is no real cure for this other than upgrading to a 7D or switching brands to the likes of Nikon's D7000 or Sony's SLT-A77.

Get a Class 10 SDHC memory card with the highest capacity you can afford then format each time before you shoot a video.
