Which is the better lens ?

Question

My budget is only Rs.15k....
My camera body is Nikon D5200
Am not that much of a bird photographer..
I need these zoom lenses to photograph stage shows and for portaits and STREET PHOTOGRAPHY..

1.Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 55-300 mm f/4.5-5.6G ED VR Lens
2.Nikon AF-S DX VR Zoom-Nikkor 55-200 mm f/4-5.6G IF-ED Lens
3.Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO DG Macro

and compare their focusing speed with that of 18-55mm kit lens..since i ve used only that!!
If there is any other lens pls suggest !!

Stick to Nikon, Sigma is alright but their 70-300mm APO lens isn't that good for the money.



Get the 55-300mm and enjoy shooting ;)

Between the Nikon 55-200mm and 55-300mm lenses, the 55-200 mm is a better quality, primarily because it has internal focusing. The difference between 200mm and 300mm is noticeable, but not significant.



If you are looking at buying the 55-300mm lens, you should consider the Nikon AF-S 70-300mm f/4.5~5.6 lens as it is a vastly superior lens to the other Nikon lenses you have mentioned. However, it is $560, but you can buy a refurbished one for around $400, which is what the 55-300mm lens costs.

So my advice, buy either the 55-200mm VR or refurbished AF-S 70-300mm VR; skipping the 55-300mm.



Also, be sure you buy the AF-S version of the 70-300mm - not the AF version - otherwise it will not autofocus with your camera.

Of the 3, the 55-300 would be the way to go. The Sigma is a very good budget lens, but it won't autofocus on your camera. The 55-200 and 55-300 are very similar, and for not much more money you get an extra 100mm of reach with the 55-300.
