I can assure you that you DON'T need a new camera. You just need to learn how best to use your batteries and also learn how best to conserve battery power.

Did you know that...the A560 has an excellent battery life of up to 500 shots (when using rechargeable NiMH, 2500mAh)? Or, up to 1200 shots if you turn the LCD off and use only the viewfinder to compose your shots with. If your rechargeable batteries are of a very low capacity, you may need to consider getting ones with a higher capacity. Any good brand will do.

Don't forget that rechargeable NiMH batteries lose their charge when not used (at the rate of approx. 1/2-1% per day). So, always make sure that you give them a top up charge a day before, or on the day that you need to use the camera, to ensure they don't run out.

Check out the 'Specifications' page of your user manual (page 113). It tells you how many shots you will get when using ordinary alkaline batteries and also, rechargeable NiMh. You will see that rechargeable NiMH are the way to go, but as I said, you need to charge them fairly regularly.

To conserve battery power, try to turn off the LCD screen as much as you can (because it uses most of your battery power). So, turn it off in-between shots, limit how long you spend looking at your images, limit your use of the flash (which also requires a lot of battery power), or shoot as much as you can using the viewfinder only.

good luck...

Your Canon A560.

Are you buying rechargeable batteries And charging them Before you insert them in camera?

Are you using your LCD screen 95% of the time? You have a viewfinder on your camera--use it. LCD screens eat up batteries quickly.

What brand rechargeables are you using, what mAh rating? I have a Canon A710 IS (similar camera, a few more features) and I get 450 plus pics using the flash 25% of the time. I do absolutely NO battery management whatsoever. I use MAHA 2700mAh niMh AA's with their C-204W charger.I tried some Kodak 1600 mAh niMh AA's my wife had and it ate them up, crap in crap out. Try a pair of Duracell Alkaline AA's, I believe Canon says 140 pics on alkaline AA's, I got 240 out of my A710 in a test(no flash,LCD on). If your camera can't approximate this it probably has a problem. DO NO USE any dollar store crap as it causes most battery problems.

Yes, I would suggest the Olympus Master 2.
