Question:
I have a Nikon D40X camera. A few weeks ago I somehow switched the view from the LCD screen?

now it's stuck on just the little eye view finder and I can't figure out how to switch it back. I read the manual and a dozen people have played around with it trying to help me figure out how to fix it, but no one has had any luck at all. Does anyone know how to switch it back?

If you had LiveView on your D40x, then you're the only person in the world to have that feature. Trust me, it's not in Nikon's specs.

Now, you may have shut off the image review mode, which allows you an instant view of each picture after you've snapped it. That can be remedied easily from the on-camera menu.\

Here's exact directions on the custom settings on the D40x and how to access them. I'd suggest downloading and printing off Ken Rockwell's guide here for future reference.

Here's other voices, besides my own, that can attest to the D40x's lack of LiveView.

If you are thinking 'live view' to see a live moving image on your LCD, the d40x does not have live view, you cannot turn it on, there is nothing to turn on. Only some dSLRs have live view.

In order to see the picture on the LCD after you have taken a picture, the Image review has to be turned on. Pages 74 and 75 of your manual tell you how to do that. Here is a link to download your manual.
