Digital camera won't turn off and is frozen...PLEASE HELP!?

I have a Kodak EasyShare M552 digital camera. I just got it for Christmas a few days ago. I have been VERY careful with it. Like, super-duper careful with it - the perfect camera-mommy. Haha. Anyway, I went to turn the camera on, and I tried to take a picture. But, it just like froze up or something. I don't know exactly what happened to it. I had just taken a few pictures with it about 20 minutes or so beforehand, so I know that it WAS working. But when I went to turn it on again to take another picture, it froze up!

So now the screen is lit, but black. It looks like it does when you go to turn it off, except that the Kodak logo is not there. The white button on the top that indicates if the camera is turned on is lit, so I guess it's on. I've tried everything; I've pressed pretty much every button to see if it would do anything (to no avail), I've plugged it into the wall to try to let it charge (but it has an almost full battery and it won't do anything), etc. I tried plugging it into my computer, but nothing happened. It's just like the camera stopped responding or something. I would take the battery out, but I can't get it out! It's stuck, I think. (Either that, or my hands don't want to work with me. Possibly both.)

What might be wrong with my camera? I already read the User Guide that came with it, and read the complete manuel for my camera on the Kodak website. I did everything that was suggested in the troubleshooting guide, even though my specific problem was not listed or mentioned - but nothing worked. I can't think of anything else to do, except ask the awesome techie people of Y/A. I am soooooo scared that I broke this thing!!! I was SO careful with it... It worked just fine until this happened! Is it possible that my camera is defective or something? Should I try to take it back to the store and get a refund, or what? Any help would be so very much appreciated!

Thank you!

Kodaks are very well known for having a ton of problems. Take the camera and everything that came with it back to the store. Don't forget to take the memory card out so you will have your pictures you have already taken. Next time, get a Canon. I've had my little one for over 5 years and have never had a problem with it.

What are you taking a image of and the place and whilst? working example, are you taking a sunlight hours picutre of a lanscape venture or a night time placing with a undeniable merchandise or critical concentration? sunlight hours photos are lots much less demanding to take considering you do no longer elect the falsh as lots except it extremely is a rotten dark wet day. are you able to alter your ISO (shutter velocity) placing to automated or say 50 or decrease with out the flash? you do no longer neccessarily elect greater exposure time if the flash is became off, yet you would be able to elect a tripod and a timer placing on your digicam to maintain your digicam stable on an identical time as the image is taken. In different words, you will possibly no longer elect longer exposure (except you're taking considered one of those specific outcomes photos like once you have shifting products, like automobiles with headlights became on, and you intend to make the lighting fixtures appear as if a trailing laser result).

Return it while you still can. Then buy a Canon or Nikon.
