When i came across the photos taken by pentax K-r in Flickr, they are so so sharp. But i was wondering are those sharp IQ photos are gonna be as originally sharp when they are posted in facebook ?? Any pentax K-r user mind show me their photos through facebook please... ? Because 99% of the photos that i've taken are gonna be uploaded to facebook, thus if they are just gonna be the same in facebook as in flickr then i will go for pentax K-r !

You can take some technically perfect pictures from flickr and Facebook will still make a mess of them.

No computer screen even remotely approaches the resolution of any modern digicam. Any photos uploaded to FB or to free photo-sharing sites are compressed as there's no point in their servers getting bogged down with storing and shifting unnecessary data. You only get to store images with loss of quality online if you pay for the pro versions of the free photo album websites. Even then they are only displayed online at a greatly compressed rate.

The current fad for ridiculously high megapixel counts does not increase visible sharpness on any medium at all, unless you use a tripod with every single shot, focus absolutely perfectly, use the absolute best lenses you can obtain and print the results out on huge advertising billboards. For most users, 2 or 3 MP was absolutely fine and allowed prints of up to A4 size, far larger than most users ever print their photos at.

The only practical use you have is that with more megapixels you have the potential to make larger selective enlargements of an original image (cropping) without an apparent loss of detail.

It's not the camera, it's the user. Post processing in the computer with a fair amount of sharpening will lead to unnaturally razor sharp photos.
