Best Telephoto Zoom lenses?

What are the best telephoto zoom lenses for the Nikon D5200, with no VR (No internal AF motor, so AF in lens is *appreciated* but not necessary), shooting mostly still landscapes and in good lighting? Thanks!

You can switch the VR off. Most of the "best" lenses have VR. That is why they are the "best". It is recommended when using any lens with image stabilisation that you switch it off when using it on a tripod anyway.

The usual lens for general landscape photography is a wide angle lens. Telephoto lenses can be used for distant shots, but a wide angle is generally more useful.

Landscape with telephoto?!?!

Yes, sometimes.

The compressed perspective may be what you want.

Sometimes you can't get close enough otherwise.

Mountains that shrink in a wide angle lens loom large over the foreground with telephoto.

However, I think you will suffer many misfocused shots if you get a non-AF-S lens for your D5200.

The Nikkor 18-200mm VR is a very popular "all-purpose" lens. There's also a newer but larger and heavier 18-300mm VR

Shoot landscape with telephoto? I hope you know exactly what you're doing.
