I have a Nikon 70-200mm VR II IF....it was a pretty penny and I don't want to f-up the lens. Can I use my eye glass cleaner spray on the lens of my camera and wipe it with the microfiber cloth?

Loosen up, you didn't damage something. Those coatings aren't going to come off with 1 cleaning, or a hundred, and even a thousand, if you happen to don't seem to be making use of an abrasive fabric. They will come off if you use steel wool. Microfiber is first-rate to brush off just a little dust, nevertheless it will not dispose of fingerprints or an identical marks. All it does is smear them round. A solvent like eyeglass cleaner (a bit alcohol combined with water) should be utilized to the cloth, now not the lens, and used to put off such marks. The fabric should be barely damp, now not dripping wet. Do not apply the liquid directly to the lens. Like most things photographic, there is a couple of opinion on this matter. There are the men and women like JimA that consider what they learn on right here, and there are the ones that genuinely know what they are doing.

NEVER use any cleaning fluid on a lens until you have tried everything else - at which point take it to a repair shop to let them do it.

Use a lens pen or a dry microfibre cloth. I prefer lens pen.

You can with some, but check the compatibility on the package to make sure it can. For instance, some Carl Zeiss wipes are intended for both camera optics and eyeglasses.
