Question:
Does Nikon include User Manuals with their DSLR's?

I'm going to buy a Nikon D90, and I've checked out the store sites, and read the "What's in the box", and it doesn't say anything about a User Manual.

This would be my first Nikon, and I don't know much about what the buttons do, and all that. As well, I would need a refresher on all the terms, like ISO, exposure, f-stop, aperture, etc...
If there is a User Manual included, would this cover all the things I've listed about? Would it cover what I need to know about the specific D90 model, as well as general terms such as what I listed above?

In addition to the question above, I'm also wondering what would be a good book on DSLR photography or the specific Nikon D90 model, that would help me through, if this user manual deems insufficient.

Anyway, thanks in advance!

All my Nikon DSLR models have come with manuals for basic operation. Just to reassure you, here's the manual for the excellent D90.

And here's Ken Rockwell's well-written guide to help you further.

After you get your D90. please feel free to email me any other questions and I'll be glad to provide what help I can.

Hey,

It will include a manual, for buttons only. All the terms you mentioned may be mentioned, but won't be explained well enough.

So, I recommend you to read a few tutorials and here is a good link to them - http://the-digital-photographer.blogspot.com/2009/11/what-dslr-should-i-buy.html. Shutter speed, aperture, iso, depth of field, f-stops and everything else you need to know.

Good luck with the D90! It's a great camera, make sure you know everything about it.

I cant say for Nikon DSLRs in particular but many cameras now come with the users manual on CD. You will definitely get a manual but it may not be a printed manual.

Manuals dont typically go into the details of ISO, shutter speed, aperture etc as they pertain to photographic skills. Mostly just how to set them on a particular camera.

the D80 is discontinued, the D 60 is Nikon's latest technology, the canon XSi is an entry level consumer camera, I"d go with the D 60
