I am very interested in purchasing a digital SLR camera to learn with. I have taken a photography class and would like to experiment more creatively with a digital SLR so I would say I am a beginner. What do you think would be a nice camera for me? I am looking for a cheaper one. I really like some of the sony ones! Are those nice, or not?
I like this one alot-

But the price is still pretty high!

My biggest suggestion to you is probably to stay away from sony. They sound good but trust me, not really. You're better off going with one of the major brands either Canon or Nikon. I personally chose canon because theres so many different companies making assessories and lenses for them and they're good for beginners and will definently grow with you. Sony cameras only can be use with sony, minolta, or sigma and tamron lenses which are pretty low in quality. The first slr you buy is going to be really important because you will buy lenses for it later and may upgrade the camera in the future so whatever you choose, you will have to stick with it unless you want to switch later which will be very very costly since you will invest all your money into it. Canon XTI is good but older. I wouldnt buy their xsi cause its poorly built and megapixels are not importants for slrs. Their cameras stay clean and are really reliable. They also have good lenses and plenty of other things to buy for them.

Sony makes wonderful bridge DSLRs, however there are better alernatives, better values.

For me Pentax has all of the features, the construct first-rate and is through some distance the most cost effective first-rate approach to shop for into. Pentax has been quietly making one of the most first-rate lenses on this planet for over 50 years, and they may be able to all be used on their variety of DSLR's (a few have boundaries, for illustration if the lens used to be designed for give up down metering it nonetheless might be give up down metering, if it used to be designed for handbook attention it nonetheless might be handbook attention, however the snapshot first-rate will nonetheless be there and at an overly low-cost rate), all of those lenses may have anti shake as its constructed into the digital camera now not simply the up, down, left and correct as within the Canon and Nikon however rotation too, no 'further' to pay. The record of simply undeniable fine strategies is going on. Want extra? Suppose your taking pictures Raw clear of house however desire a rapid print from a few print keep, no difficulty you'll be able to convert any Raw dossier(s) to Jpeg in digital camera with complete manipulate of brightness, color steadiness, sprucing and many others. and many others.. More? Most DSLR's (besides the Nikon D40) present in digital camera bracketing, however Pentax presents in digital camera bracketing for color steadiness, distinction and ISO as good because the extra average publicity. More? Suppose your in handbook mode however are discovering it problematic to get simply the correct publicity, your digital camera could also be hooked up to a microscope, bellows or recognizing scope for illustration, simply press the Green Button and the digital camera will immediately provide you a studying as in case you have been in aperture precedence mode despite the fact that the lens isn't hooked up to the digital camera it'll provide a studying at the quantity of sunshine it sees (identical to the historic customary give up down metering). More? Most persons use Aperture Priority so they may be able to set the intensity of discipline, exercises photographers use shutter precedence so the can freeze the movement, in Tav Mode you'll be able to do each, you put the aperture and shutter velocity and the digital camera will regulate the ISO relying at the gentle degree to be had. Good suggestion eh? The record is going on. Chris
