Hi,
I'm a 13 yr old girl and I'm just getting into photography. This will be my first serious camera, but I can't decide. Money isn't really a problem, cause I'm willing to wait and save. The t3 is simple and easy, but the t3i has a dust removal thingy and a flip out screen (I'm young and flexible so I'll probably never use it) and is the next version so is probably just better. Can anyone help? Basically what I'm asking is for a beginner, is the t3i really worth it? Thanks :)

The flip out screen on the T3i can be useful if you're photographing in an odd position and can't see through the viewfinder. I've taken photos close to the surface of water, for example, where you don't want to lie in the water to see what's in the viewfinder, e.g. links.

I've got the T3i (600D) and it's a good camera. In terms of photographic capabilities, both cameras have the same functions. The T3i is more recent so has some improvements (e.g. 18MPixel vs 12MPixel), but both cameras will take equally good photos unless you're very picky.

Note that Nikon, Sony and Pentax also do cameras at a similar level so don't restrict yourself to Canon alone.

Actually the difference between these two cameras are very minor, flip out screen will be the most important one for many people. Do not underestimate the flexibility that a flip out screen will provide you, especially for macro and video shooting. And you can easily shoot waist level, overhead level or ground level, you will find it very useful. So my suggestion is to go for the T3i.

Here is a detailed comparison of two, see for yourself (these cameras are sold as 550D (T3) and 600D (T3i) in some countries):

Hello Emely

Why don't take a look to Nikon D3200, it's a DSLR camera who can provide great image quality 24.2 MP and have a large sensor then all Canon camera in it's range.

it's best for beginners and every day shooting, easy to use (thanks for guide mode) and lot of features. can't list theme all here, see more info in source link

Good luck

The T3 would be perfectly fine to start with. I started with a Canon EOS Rebel Xsi, which is TERRIBLE, but it was perfect to learn on! That was two years ago, and now I shoot weddings and senior portraits with a Canon 7D. The T3 would be a fantastic start. As you get better, start to invest in better lenses, that is far more important than the camera itself. A great lens to get would be the Canon 50mm f/1.8 which is only around $100. Also, To really learn how to use your camera, Jared Polin is who taught me, and this list of videos will really help you, from top to bottom is probably the best way to go:
