I have a Canon 450D and Elements 5.0. I want to edit RAW CR2 files from the camera. I've downloaded the correct Adobe Camera Raw plug-in, put it in the correct folder on my hard drive, and still Elements will not let me view RAW files. I keep getting either "It is not a valid Photoshop document" or "it is the wrong type of file" error messages.

What is the problem? This is very frustrating.

As was already said the problem comes about when new cameras are added after your software has been published. This will result in camera RAW files that are not up to date and do not support the newer cameras. Adobe is very good about having updates on thier site you just have to download the file and replace the one you have it takes about 5 minutes or less

Here is the link

This usually fixes it For you though adobe does not support back to elements 5 with that update then you need to get the canon downloader for the RAW files that came with your camera and convert the RAW to Tiff or JPEG to use it with elements

go to abobe.com and download the RAW update for elements 5, that will allow you app to process you cameras Raw files. They have instructions in the same place telling you how to use the update. I hope this helps you Happy Snappin

Get off the pipe and get contained in the admired international - raw is for wankers and different self flagilists. The marginal advance in high quality - probably decrease than 0.0001% - isn't nicely well worth the discomfort.
