Well they are offering me a Nikon D40.
And they say I can have it for 250$ is this a fair price for the camera?
I'd like to know if I'm buying it right. Thank You in advance.

That is a great price. Though, you didn't provide this information: Is the item used? Does it come with a lens? Is it in good condition? How much has it been used?

Shutters only last so long, so if the D40 was very heavily used by the previous owner, it may not last a whole lot longer.

Even without most of those details, I find that to be a pretty good price as long as you aren't expecting it to last forever.

After reading your additional details: I'd say that is definitely a fair price then! Memory cards are pretty cheap. I say go for it!

Yes, a very decent price for a dslr camera. In comparison, some of todays "pro" compact cameras such as the G11 cost well over that amount, but doesnt offer anywhere near the same performance in low light, and with worse autofocus performance.

If you are buying from the internet, be especially cautious. If you know the seller in person, and can test the camera in person to ensure everything is in working order, I say go for it!

If it's new in the box WITH the standard lens, then it's a decent deal.Go to amazon.com & see what it's going for there.

EDIT: my mistake,I thought that was $450.At $250 it's still a great deal, but only if you know the history of the camera. It could be worn out by now.Are they offering at least a 6 month warranty ?

Yes, $250 good price, however last year target was selling D40 for $300 or less during clearance.

I don't know about warrantly, that camera is come out for sometime, unless you buy from directly from retail, most camera don't had transfer warrantly.

If it has the lens and works, that is a great price.
