Go to Hidalgo St., in Quiapo. They sell cameras that are about 30-50% cheaper than in the malls. It would be better though to know first what type / brand of camera you want. Then scout for it's price there. Most prefer cash. Although some stores accept card with an % add-on. Avenue, Mayer, Accel and K24 are good shops to start with. Some are accomodating in helping you out while others prefer that you know immediately what you want. These shops sell on price and not on the sales service or aesthetics. You also see a lot more choices on cameras and accessories which you won't see on the malls.

Don't worry, most, if not all come with warranties and are legit dealers. They can sell cheap because of the location and their overhead. No frills. Enjoy hunting...

You need to figure out your cheap-to-quality ratio.

I'm guessing all you need is a camera for when you go out with friends and what not, so you don't need anything fancy.

But you don't want to spend less than 4,500 pesos on one. Cause they probably aren't any good.

I'd look for maybe a used cybershot as I own one and used it while I was there in February.

I don't know EXACTLY where to find one because I didn't need to shop for one but if you can't find an affordable cybershot...

stick to canon, cybershots, or even some newer olympus's.

3 megapixels or higher and at least 512 MB.

Once you find a few in that category eliminate by taking out things that are pricier for you, less attractive, and not so user friendly.

I remember a robinsons had cybershots in the electronic outlet there in manilla fairview. But none used.

If all else fails try online that ships there.

Walmart.com or google for sites that ship to your area.

hmmm... quiapo, if you haggle, you can get a good priced canon digital slr.

now if you're into the point and shoot like sony's cybershot, you need a friend of a friend. earlier this year, i bought a cybershot for half the price (normally sold), the only catch is that it does not have a warranty attached to it.
